Science Festival

Science Festival was held by the Student Association of International Program on Science Education, which is from the major of International Program on Science Education (IPSE) which was held on October 24, 2019. The main purpose of carrying out the Science Festival has facilitated students at the junior high school level to develop themselves in the field of science. In 2019, the Science Festival will be held with the theme “The Inception of Future: Move Toward Science Travel Dimension”. This activity will increase the awareness of the next generation of the nation towards the importance of science and technology in life and creating new ideas.

This event is an activity in a festival and competition. This activity was carried out for one day consist of three activities which is 7 team from Science Project, 28 teams from Science Quiz and 18 participants from Science Story Telling, and science exhibitions. They come from junior high schools in various regions of West Java.

A. Science Quiz

Science Quiz is a contest to know the knowledge of participants to answer several questions about science. The questions start from easy to difficult levels. This competition consists of preliminary and final rounds. Participants who qualify for the final round and get the highest score have won the Science Quiz. There are three winners in this contest, 1st winner from SMP Pribadi Bandung, 2nd winner from SMP Al-Azhar Cirebon and 3rd winner from SMP Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Parahyangan.

B. Science Storytelling

Science Story Telling has had participants to tell stories of favorite science legends that inspired them and express it in the Story Telling. The competition consists of a preliminary and a final round. By the theme is “My Favorite Scientist”. In the preliminary round, participants had chosen one of the figures from several science figures who could be selected, including Wright Brothers, Alexander Graham Bell, Roobert Hooke, Johanes Guttenberg, and Thomas Alva Edison. After that, participants have told stories that include biographies and discoveries from selected scientific figures. After 5 participants entered the final round, they told the story about B.J Habibie. 1st winner was won by Aspasya Putri from SMP Taruna Bakti, 2nd winner by Farros Egan Farabi from SMP Al-Irsya Satya Islamic School and 3rd winner by Lysselcia Wiryana Effendi from SMPK Trimulya

C. Science Project

The Science Project have aims to show their knowledge in science by applying various theories of science to a work that is useful in daily life, as well as challenging students to think creatively and innovatively in the project. The project that was created by the participants was an innovation with the theme of “innovate the invention”. The team consists of Three-person participants. There are three winners in this Science Project, 1st winner from SMP Krida Utama Padalarang, 2nd winner from SMPK Trimulia and 3rd winner from SMP Unggulan Al-Amin.

D. Science Exhibition

Science exhibition has provided an opportunity for participants to increase their knowledge in the science and technology through exhibitions of various science learning tools. That object exhibited at this festival was made by IPSE students in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry courses. some exhibitions that are shown are distillation, Arduino, Invisible fire extinguisher, Herbarium display and many more. The student very enthusiast and curious about the way and create the project.
