IPSE 2015 student, Renita Novitasari has been chosen as one of the delegates in a delegation from Indonesia for Singapore Model United Nations (SMUN) sponsored by Djarum Foundation. It is Asia-Pacific’s most prestigious conferences and has been rolled for the 16th times. Model United Nations itself is an academic competition, which is a simulation of how the United Nations held the meetings. The delegates are the representative of different countries in which attempt to solve the world pressing issues with keeping their own country’s perspective and regulation. The conference includes debate, negotiation, research, scientific writing, speech, and work in a teamThe SMUN took place in National University of Singapore from 10th-14th of June 2019. The four days conference opened up by discussion session with the topic Climate Change. Following days is the committee’s session up to 7th times until the end day of the meeting and followed by the awarding session. The delegation brings home five awards: three verbal commendations, best position paper, and outstanding delegate. The awards are none other than the result of the hard work of practicing and training.
With the other nine colleagues from different university in Indonesia, such as ITB, UGM, UNAIR, IPB, etc. UPI is becoming the only education-based university to be selected. The selection process took a long way. I am starting from TOEFL with a minimum score of 550, essay writing, and video publishing on becoming the representative of Indonesia. Thus, the selected delegates trained in Jakarta on the weekend since March – June 2019. The preparation includes public speaking, academic writing, gesture position, and simulation of the Model United Nations itself.
