The Inauguration of Professor Dr. Phil. Ari Widodo, M.Ed.

On Wednesday, 8 August 2018, the Rector of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si. has inaugurated one of our lecturers, Prof. Dr. Phil. Ari Widodo, M.Ed. The meeting was attended by about 500 participants at Graha Sanusi Building, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Prof. Dr. Phil. Ari Widodo, M.Ed. presents a professorship inaugural speech entitled “Improving Learning Quality and Student Learning Outcomes through Strengthening Pedagogical Content Knowledge”. In this Speech, he said that PCK is a specific competence which must be possessed by science teachers. By understanding PCK, Science was applied to describe the content outside Science. He also narrated the ancient stories about deer “Kancil” and Archimedes as approaches for learning science. To make an interactive lesson, the teachers have to understand the science content as well as science context comprehensively by understanding the students’ characteristics. In his research, he suggested that it is needed to integrate PCK in science education curriculum. Moreover, Pedagogical Knowledge and Content Knowledge must be integrated with each other. To sum up, we are the academic society of Science Education Study Program (IPSE) congratulate Prof. Dr. Ari Widodo, M.Ed. for his inauguration.
