Emergency Fire Extinguishing Training 2017

Bandung, 31 October 2017, IPSE Study program held emergency fire extinguishing training. The work was instructed by 6 trainers from Bandung Official Fire Extinguisher started at 1.30 P.M. The opening speech was given by head of IPSE Study program Dr. Diana Rochintaniawati, M.Ed. Afterwards, the activity is followed by the brief theoretical discussion about the nature disaster especially fire and how we can prevent this accident. Most of these accidents are caused by electrical short current, so the instructor reminded students to be careful when they want to go outside their home. Please do not put so many plugs on their terminal because it can engage heat. The officer also described the type of fire extinguisher including its particular function. The portable fire extinguisher must be put 1.2 – 1.5 m in height on the wall to make it easy when the user want to release this equipment during fire. We must carry the apparatus by handling the lower lever, while the key must be released out so that the upper lever can be easily pushed. Before you shot the extinguisher to the appropriate burnt place, the device must be tested by directly pushing the upper lever in short time in order to check the high pressure condition.

The IPSE batch 2014 – 2017 are very interested following this activity. They sang a song about what they must do during earthquake. The IPSE laborant also prepared the materials needed to demonstrate fire extinguishing. After they had studied the theory of fire extinguishing, they conducted simulation escaping fired building. It needs to be understood that in case of fire due to LPG gas tube, this tube has never exploded because the tube is designed to cover the higher pressure rather than LPG gas pressure. However, the case is actually caused by the gas contamination in a closed room. If this condition happened in your house, please bring the LPG gas tube outside house and do not spark the match or turn off the light. A trainer also demonstrated the condition of LPG gas tube equipped with a gas regulator burnt using lighter. We can directly closed its valve without heating. Some students tested the experiment. Some of them feels scary, but they think that it was interesting. Some  people looked this demonstration because the work is held in the edge of FPMIPA B building. Another activity was conducted by showing the way to extinguish the small fire on a drum tube filled by amount of water. In this work, the water is poured by drop of fuel and match burns it. We use a wet gunny sack to cover the fired drum tube. Number of students also joined this activity. Thenn, the also used the portable fire extinguisher to stop the fire.

The lecturer thanked the officer of fire extinguisher. The session is closed by a photo session. They hope the work can be held again in the future. Finally, the officer launched the letter of IPSE participation in joining this training.
