Introduction to modern physics is the compulsory study about post-Newtonian conception of physics underlying structure of the smallest particles in nature (quantum mechanics), as well as a rigorous understanding of the fundamental interaction of particles, understood as forces. The objectives of this course are to understand the born of modern physics, to apply modern physics concept and their application in daily life and technology, and to reveal the modern physics concepts through  experiment.

Basic Technology Education (BTE) is the study about technology as well as influence on the individual, the community, the environment, and the process of culture by acknowledging the potential for the student's individual to develop the reasoning capacity, the solution to the problem, creativity to design and explained it with various equipment and material. Basic Technology Education makes the content of technology and the experience that contribute to the growth and the development of humankind.

Fundamental of Physics is a compulsory course and aimed to provide student competencies on physics. It is expected that students are not only able to understand fundamental on physics both are concepts and basic practices but also expand and apply to shape their critical thinking in scientific purposes. 

The course content consist of: physical science overview, vectors,  properties of mechanics, matters, heat, waves, sounds, electricity, magnetism, optics and an overview on another new physics such as modern physics as optional one.

Applied chemistry is an elective course. It aims to introduce students to chemical products that play important roles in human life as well as to develop their awareness toward the use of chemical in everyday life to save the sustainable earth save. Topics taught in this course are chemistry of household products, agriculture chemistry, and chemistry in health and medicine.

This course is concentration competence course that is compulsory for science education student as a candidate of science teacher at junior high school (JHS). By attending this course students are expected to have good skill in chemistry laboratory works and enable to analyze the data resulted from those chemistry laboratory works.

Chemistry topics that are included in this course are Sublimation, Recrystalization, Types Chemical Reaction, Stoichiometry Reaction, Acid and Base, Oxidation Reduction Reaction, Electricity and Chemistry, Reaction Rate and Chemical equilibrium.

Chemistry is a study of matter, its changes and the energy that involves in the changes. In the Fundamental of Chemistry subject, the students studied the structure of matter (atoms, elements, molecules, compounds).The course is subdivided in four sections: thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, and electrochemistry. Themodynamics studies the energy involved in chemical and physical processes and reaction spontaneity. Chemical kinetics studies the rates of reactions and reaction mechanisms.

This course is a necessary one in undergraduate science education. It is the basic of knowledge and pedagogical aspects of science lab at school, so it is also functions as a supporting course for expertise course group at science education program. The student learning and exercise to use and to maintain basic science instruments, science laboratory involving laboratory design, lab facilities, raw materials and lab instruments, working safety in lab, and using and maintaining instruments in school science kit with their own design based on scienc e curriculum.


International Science Education Curricula is a compulsory  course for fifth semester IPSE  students that intended to improve thinking  and mental  skills  of  participants about  fundamental  and applied concepts  of science curriculum for Junior High School in local and global situation


This course is the necessary one in undergraduate science education. Ecology as a science and scientific method used by ecologist. In what part of ecology that ecology has strong ties to other sciences. Environmental science need ecology; examples of environmental problems that need ecological concept. Lecturing conducted using conceptual and contextual approach also guided-inquiry, with methods: demonstration, practices works, discussion, questions and answers, speech, aided with using LCD, OHP and apparatus. The students achievement checked by mid-semester test and final-semester test and also paper and presentation.

This course is the necessary one in undergraduate science education.The student learning and exercise to use and to maintain basic science instruments, science laboratory involving laboratory design, lab facilities, raw materials and lab instruments, working safety in lab, and using and maintaining instruments in school science kit with their own design based on science curriculum.

The course represent histology of epithel tissue, connective tissue, muscles, and bones. Compartive study of vertebrate integument, muscle system, skeletal system, digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, excretion system, nervous system, sense organs, endocrine gland, and reproductive system.

Introduction to Biotechnology introduces concepts and methods involved the application of biological organisms, systems and processes to manufacturing and service industries. This course is presented (1) to understand concepts is needed in biotechnology, (2) to understand methods usually use in biotechnology, (3) to develop understanding of genetic engineering in plant, animal, and microbes. The methodology used are lecture, discussion, and problem solving. Learning and teaching use media of Power point and books review. Evaluation are considered into Middle Test, Final Test, and Group Task.

This course develops good knowledge of the students on diversity of plants and animals through explanation, discussion, observation, interpretation, identification, presentation, accomplishing of assignments, and  conducting  a small project on the lifestyle of selected organisms. After following this course the students should be able to comprehend and understand the diversity of living organisms, the principles of classification, nomenclature, and the life of plants and animals.


English for Academic Purposes 2 (reading and writing comprehension) represents a major effort to enhance English competency relevant to science topics. 


The subject helps students to acquire skill of teaching competency. The student should be able to analyze various curriculum (Cambridge, IB and KTSP), content of science, construct lesson plan, and practice their lesson plan in their teaching, decide model/approach or method of teaching and media which is appropriate with the characteristics of the concept as well as analyze teaching learning process in natural setting in classroom through observation.
